Making serious messaging approachable
We had the opportunity to work with a Cambridge-based, Fortune 500, biotechnology company on their internal information security campaign. This campaign cover topics from phishing to insider threats—content that can be difficult to communicate without feeling threatening.
We collaborated with our client and a content strategist and writer, Liz Wellington to come up with a light-hearted, humor-infused campaign. We created a cohesive brand that allowed these very different content themes to have consistency. Each campaign is comprised of a poster, a swag item, postcard, sticker, and a banner image for their blog posts. Throughout all of the materials we used an animal theme, and the Clue us in logo to tie everything together.

Campaign identity
Our first step was creating a campaign name and logo that could live comfortably with their brand. We were tasked in creating a logo that would make the Information Security Department feel approachable to the employees at the company, so that they would be comfortable reaching out to them if there was a security concern.
Animals
We created an animal icon for each sub-campaign to deliver the main message. Each animal connects to its theme in some way. For example, the parrot is saying “don’t parrot your secrets” in reference to not giving up confidential information over the phone. We integrated the magnifying glass from the logo into these icons to connect them to the overall brand and to reinforce the need to always be aware of security threats.
Posters
Swag and gamified postcards
We came up with custom swag products for each sub-campaign, which would be fun, useful, and connect to the theme of the campaign. For example, we created a custom keychain (with the keyboard shortcut “Windows + L” on it) to reinforce both physically locking and digitally locking your sensitive information. The accompanying postcards introduce the giveaway swag item and have a puzzle or game on the back to playfully introduce the message of the sub-campaign.
Stickers
We love when our clients want to incorporate humor into their work. Since they did for this campaign, we made laptop stickers for them to hand out at conferences and within the office.
